Accuracy
We make every effort to ensure factual accuracy using reputable historical sources including academic books, peer-reviewed journals, encyclopaedias and primary source documents. Where historical consensus is disputed or uncertain, we say so explicitly rather than presenting contested interpretations as settled fact.
Sources
Every article includes a sources and further reading section listing the primary references used in its preparation. We cite sources including Encyclopaedia Britannica, academic monographs, JSTOR papers, Smithsonian Magazine, National Geographic and peer-reviewed historical scholarship.
Corrections
We correct factual errors promptly and transparently when they are identified. If you believe an article contains an error please contact us with details. Significant corrections are noted within the article.
Independence
History Decoded is editorially independent. Affiliate relationships and advertising do not influence article content. Book recommendations are genuine editorial choices. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage.
Simplification
Some articles intentionally simplify complex historical events for accessibility. We aim for accuracy in this simplification — capturing the essential truth of events while making them readable for a general audience. Where simplification might mislead, we include caveats.
